Nottingham Music Enterprises has a mission to 'Enrich Musical Lives'
Derek Williams (Musical Director) and Adrian Benselin (Treasurer) from Nottingham Symphony Orchestra and Jenny Casboult (Concert Secretary) from Derby Bach Choir have worked on a number of joint events and projects over the years including Carmina Burana in 2005, Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony in 2007 in Nottingham's Albert Hall, then Belshazzar's Feast in 2011 and Verdi’s Requiem in 2014 in Derby Roundhouse.
After a very successful evening, the idea of taking the Verdi Requiem on tour was floated. Derek had used the tour group Equity whilst Artistic Director of Nottingham Youth Orchestra for a number of tours over the years, and so the Team engaged them. Derek had been impressed with their experience and knowledge.
NME is a development by the Team (now joined by Nick Heath) following two very successful trips to Paris & Chartres to perform Verdi's Requiem in 2015 & 2017. The performers of these concerts came from a range of orchestras & 13 choirs, drawn mainly from the East Midlands, but also from around the UK and France and Germany.
NME hopes to continue to arrange more continental tours, as well arranging other events for all ages in the UK.
